Portillo’s—a fast-casual restaurant concept known for its Chicago-style street food—announced plans March 7 to open its first two Greater Houston-area locations, including one at Willowbrook Mall.

The details

According to a March 7 news release, the Willowbrook Mall location will be one of the brand’s first “Restaurant of the Future” designs. The 6,000-square-foot building will feature a rustic, Southwest garage theme and offer seating for about 130 guests inside plus seating for an additional 40 guests on the outdoor patio.

The Willowbrook location will also feature a pickup area and double drive-thru lane.

“We’ve loved serving our fans in the great state of Texas ever since we first opened in Dallas last January,” Portillo’s CEO Michael Osanloo said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to expand into Houston, and we can’t wait to bring our unrivaled Chicago street food to a brand-new market in the Lone Star State.”

On the menu

Portillo’s offers a menu of Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches and char-grilled burgers.
